Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag. Most states you can't hunt deer hunt with a 357 check your state laws. S/W make great guns, Taurus makes good guns, but they just don't like hot loads.

RE: Revolver brand ??
I just bought and sold a
Taurus m85 snub .38. Accurate as hell I'll admit. However, the action sucked and a little fouling under the ejector rod (and I mean very little) caused the cylinder to jam after about 50 rounds. Even when cleaner than it came from the factory, the action was rough and the cylinder still wanted to hang. I bought this as a CCDW gun and didn't feel comfortable using so I traded it on a S&W 637. I know Taurus has a lifetime warrenty but as a CCDW gun, I'd never trust it again so I made the choice to trade it in on higher quality firearm. Even with warranty work - a gun that is less than 6 months old and needs to be returned to the factory for repair isn't much of a gun in my opinion.
I've always been a Smith and Glock owner and have never had any problems with any of them. Personally - the extra money for the highest quality firearm is worth it. AsCCDW or home protection weapon, you want to make sure that the gun will fire when you need it too. Go with Ruger, Smith, Glock, Sig - pay the extra money up front and you won't regret it. Taurus may offer a lifetime warranty - but shipping the gun back to the factory costs roughly $50. Do that a couple of times and let them keep your gun for a month or two and the price difference between a Taurus and quality handgun speaks for itself.

You got the rare bad Taurus. I have had at least a dozen of them and never a hitch with any. I sure prefer the to the Smith 38's that I have owned. Probably six or eight. I like the S&W if they are to carry a lot and shoot a little or when used only with light loads. I have owned all the Glocks except the GAP 45 and the Baby Glocks. No complaints.
