one more thing to add, try squeezing the trigger with the meat of your finger NOT the crease (knuckle) . this seemed to help my accuracy and reduce the felt trigger pull.

I have an XD 40 Tactical and couldn't be more happy with a handgun.

For everything you ever will need for it check out this guy.

http://www.pistolgear.com/

Also go to the pistolsmithing link on that site and check out Canyon Creek, Rich does an awesome trigger job on the XDs, I have not had mine done yet, but it will soon be done.

For everything you could imagine being talked about for the XD check out this forum board.

I have the Stainless steel guide rod in my XD and the 22lb spring, made one heckuva difference in recoil/alot faster to get back on target as well. Also put a set of Trijicons on my XD and love them as well.

You think a trigger pull between 6 and 8 pounds is fine? At least with a revolver you can cock it and have a light trigger pull. See thats my point, with a DAO you only have one choice, a long heavy trigger pull. If I depended on a DAO to save my life I probably would be DOA! But to each his own. What ever floats your boat.
trigger pull doesnt make that big of a difference if you are used to what you are shooting, where do you live? id be willing to meet up with ya so I can show you that i can squeeze off rounds just as fast and accurate as just about anyone can with their SA auto.

For a tactical gun like he has he should practice with a full finger on the trigger. This gun is intended to stop aggression and not to put a small group on the paper down range. In a crazy situation you don't want to slip off the trigger even if that means you shoot the aggressor slightly to the right or left instead of center mass.
