buying a 7mm-08? i know its a great caliber but i think i will stick to my 308win its my favorite caliber and its the best of the best in my opion, the 7mm-08 is great caliber but i dont think it will kill like a 308. as far a energy is better for the 7mm-08, i dont really think energy is a great way of telling killing power... there is many factors in killing power then just energy. it shoots flater? for sure but i bet it cant hit with a 308 just askany one that shoots for a livin.lesswind drift maybe, the 260 rem in alot of cases has better energy thenboth the 7mm-08 and 308 but do i think it is really better,i think no... hers a pic of a moose my unkle shot with a 308 at almost 300 yards with a one shoot to put him down

"The Browning magazine system isn't very well suited for quick changes. They are on a floorplate swing out design, which is a joke if you ask me. The Tikka has a very quick and easy to change out magazine. Spare mags come at a very high cost for each rifle, I believe Brownings are in the 40-50 dollar range and Tikkas are a bit higher and they are harder to come by. "

I dont know what this idiot is talking about, i have a browning a bolt medallion 30-06 and i love it, it only takes me a couple of seconds to change clips and ready to shoot again. it holds 5 in the clip.

I have owned two browning Abolts and one tikka. Both have proven pretty accurate but I would give the edge to the browning. I also think the browing is a more durable design. THe one tikka I did have split the stock after less than 100 rounds. WHen I seeked factory repair they refused to touch it because I had a muzzle brake installed. The muzzle brake had nothing to do with the stock cracking, if anything it should have helped. THe tikka has a pathetic recoil lug system. The browning has a standard recoil lug setup. I also have a lot more faith in steel magazine as opposed to plastic. The brownings have worked flawlessly for me for the last 12 years or so. The boss system really works well also. Given the same price I would always opt for the browning. I just don't care for beretta usa's customer service and the way they handled the tikka / sako recall. To many guns left out there at risk just to save a little publicitiy.

mine shots 1/4 inch groups, just found that out yesterday, with hornady light mag sp 139 grns,i also instaled the sims barrel de-resonator.ishot right inside some else bullet hole at 130 yards,i could do a little better if i had a multi-x retical instead of the firefly retical, its kind of thick, and it kind of hides behind the crosshairs, the small targets that is...o well its a hunting rifle not a target rifle..i am really pleased with its performance..i was getting little over 1 inch with out the sims resonator...its the a-bolt 7mm-08

I own 2 Browning A-bolts, 1 in 270 and the other is a .204 hunter. I love both of these rifles and prefer browning over any other rifle or shotguns. They are accurate, and very well constructed. I also like the finishes to them over alot of the other gun makers. The magazine system IS NOT complicated at all. I like it because it is removable but when in the rifle it is inside to leave nothing sticking out. If anyone says the mags are complicated to use just don't know what they are talking about!! Go for the browning, after you shoot and own one you will be glad that you did!

Some of us do not like to admit this, but most people like clipsbecause it makes road hunting easier to do safely. Let's just be honest - are you really going to carry a double stacked rifle clip in your pants pocket? Don't fall, 'cause you will find out what it's like to leave part of your manhood on the hill. Maybe you were refering to your coat pocket instead - I hope so.

Now that I got the none P.C. stuff out of the way, the assessments regarding the fast change clip insertion of a Browning are spot one. There is nothing quick about them.

If memory serves me correctly, Remington does make a version of the Mountian Rifle with quick insert clips, and it is a clean design to.

The Brownings have good barrels on them, and you should not have any trouble finding over the counter ammo that will shoot sub MOA groups for you.

As a former owner ofa browning rifle with the silly combination floorplate/ removeable magazine system,I most certainly do know what I am talking about. You must drop the floorplate, then attach the magazine to the floorplate, then close the floorplate, which amounts to three separate steps. With the remington or tikka system you simply push the magazine into the receiver in a single step.Which is more complicated?I am willing to bet my paycheck that I can install the magazine in my remington ,quicker than you can install the magazine a browning with the floorplate/detachable magazine.

I think the floor plate looks better then the standard detach mag like on Rem or Tikka.
What are you hunting that the 1st 4 or 5 shots depending on what your rifle holds arent enough that you need a quicker changing clip to get shots 6-10 off. I dont understand why you would need a faster changing clip but I would have to agree that the Rem Mnt Rifleclip or Tikka is faster to change then theBrowning.

My point is that I prefer things to be simple, less likelyto fail. Why make something more complicated than it needs tobe?Actually in many chamberings the magazines only hold three rounds which is almost always more than enough. However if you should for some reason need an extra round, simpler and quicker is better.
