Not my first choice for a rifle, but they work. I prefer a laminate stock to the plastic ones. Gives the feel of wood with the weather handling qualities of synthetic. The 700 ADL should serve you much better than the 710 would have.

Its the cheapest 700 there is, but I bought my brother one in a 204. And that little sucker was a tack driver. It was on sale at bass pro for 350 dollars. Still doesn't feed that little shell well.
Bottom line is the heart of the gun, the action, is a 700 action which is a good action.

I would rather the Lam. Stock over the Syn. one. It gives it a little more weight. Helps with recoil.
I like the feel and the looks better also.
Just my opinion.

I have had a couple of them. One in the 270 and one in the 25-06. They had pretty good groups at 100 yards. I think I was getting .75 groups with the 270 and true 1.0 groups with the 25-06. That was all factory stuff.
Never did anything to them but put a scope on them. I think for the money. You cant go wroung!!! Pretty good type of rifle.

Just about anything you want. Afterall it is still a Rem. 700.
You can do just about anything you want to it to improve it in anyway, shape, form or fashion.

It's still a 700 action, so its a good one! At least the older ones are! After the 710's, and 597's came out, all Remingtons quality has become suspect with me! Again, I admit I haven't handled the newer 700's. Also, having both laminated rifles, and composites, the laminates have a better feel to them!

I have 2 ADLs one in 22/250 and the other in 30/06. Pull the rubber end plate off the rifle butt and fill it with expanding foam. It helps make the stock quiet if bumped in a stand and helps stop stock flex and twist. Some people put a stock length of 5/8 Re bar then foam it in place. I got the 30/06 almost gave to me because the person who only had it two weeks and shot it a few times said it kicked to much. It will recoil a bit with the lighter stock, but you would be surprised what the foam does to help. It doesn't bother me to much, but is a bit more than a good wooden stock. But for the money they are real good rifles.
