tika t-3 vs winchester m70

There are models of the M70 with DBM's, but if you can shove a DBM in the bottom, and cycle a bolt, you can do the same thing with a hinged floor plate!
I'd rather a rifle with a stripper clip, than a one-size-fits-all action! Winchester all the way!

Personally I don't see why people make such a big deal over the tikka not having a special short action for the wsms. The 300wsm that I fired fed perfectly and would only be a few ounces lighter andabouthalfan inch shorterwith a special shortaction.

judgemint,
Either way, I don't think you can make a bad decision. I looked at both rifles and chose the T3 synthetic/blued mainly because it felt better to me. I'm very happy with my choice... great gun to carry, very accurate, durable, etc...
That said the model 70 is a great gun... I agree with the sentiment that you should pick the one that feels better to you...
Good luck,

Stubby, no doubt the T3 is a quality gun, and the action works fine! That is one way Tikka keeps the cost down, one action size!
To me, I just don't like the idea of a sports car on a longbed truck frame!
I admit, I'm partial to Winnies, but thats just because they are darn good guns! Not that the T3 isn't!
One other note on the DBM issue, if ya don't know yer gun in the dark, ya ain't slept with her long enough!!!!

I would go with the tikka unless you feel you need the control-feed. The tikka is light, much better trigger, detachable mag, smoothest action around has a sako barrel. I have bought 3 t-3's and love them all.

I have both a Tikka Hunter in 7mm and a M70 Ulitmate shadow in a 270 WSM. First off, I love the 270 WSM. While I do not beleive the T3 is as good a gun as the older hunter, it is still a nice weapon. The Tikka Trigger will be better. You will spend 35-50 to get the trigger improved in the M70. The Tikka will cost less that the ultimate shadow, but is comparable to the super shadow. Both guns shoot great. I think the Tikka may shoot better, but that could be me or it could be the caliber.I really like the stock of the M70 better and am curious to see how the rubber holds up.
This may not help, but you can not go wrong with either one. IF you go with the lesser priced gun, you spend buy a better scope too.
