Default Best cartrige for Win. Model 70?

I have a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight bolt action .270 caliber. I shoot a 130 grain bullet. I have been using Remington Core Lokt for the past few years. I generally shoot about a 1.5 inch group at 100 yards. Can anyone recommend another cartridge for shooting tighter groups?

Thanks

Some kind of factory ammo might do better, but 1.5" is not bad for factory ammo in a factory rifle. I'd suggest you try some other commercial loads, because the only way you can find out FOR SURE what YOUR gun will do is by shooting it. No-one can predict what will work well in ANY individual gun beforehand!! Sorry!!

Try a "trigger job" first,If that doesn't help Run some premium loads through it...JMHO

Like suggested a lighter trigger might tighten them.

However in my 270 I have found the tightest shooter to be Winchester 130 Ballistic tips and Federal 130 Seirra Gamekings Boattails. For whatever reason my 270 doesn't not like any Rem factory ammo. Best is to get a couple of other brands, bullet styles, etc and just fire them to narrow the choice.

The other folks have all given you good advice. A trigger job and premium ammo can work wonders. But keep in mind that 1.5" groups at 100 yards is good shooting for any sporter weight rifle with factory loads. Don't get caught up in some on the "one hole at 300 yards all day long" groups you read about here and other forums. Some folks tend to talk those world record groups, but can't ever seem to produce them infront of a witness.

I have a Model 70 in 270 and it shoots Remington core-lokts about as your experiencing a little over an inch at 100. I shoot handloaded Sierra 130 boatails out of it and get 3/4 to 1 inch average groups from it. My other 270 likes the corelokts better than any handload i've come up with so far. How weird is that?
