I have a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight bolt action .270 caliber. I shoot a 130 grain bullet. I have been using Remington Core Lokt for the past few years. I generally shoot about a 1.5 inch group at 100 yards. Can anyone recommend another cartridge for shooting tighter groups?
Thanks

I bought a Browning A-Bolt 270 last Christmas and I have shot several different rounds through it including the Remington Core Locks. I found the Hornady 130 SST light magnum to be the most accurate. If you'll check the ballistics, it is also alot faster than most of the 270 factory loads.

Hi there! What do you plan on doing with it, shooting paper or hunting. I have found the 130 gr. nosler partition great for deer and the 150 is good for elk. I have used the 130 in speer boattail for dogs, works ok for me.

130 grain bullet is a good choice for that cal. Like they posted though, every gun shoots different. If you are not going to hand load then I would try different manufactures of amo to compare the groups to find the one that your gun likes.

You should try the Winchester line of ammo. The Fail Safes shoot well in any gun I've ever seen that has tried them (which includes myself, my dad, my cousin, and my uncle). They also offer good expansion and great penetration. The ballistic tip Winchester bullet is also nice. But as they said above, try out several cartridges and see which one your gun likes the most. Hope this helps!

I would try the model of 270 shells that group the best from the reloading bench in you basement. That question is like asking a bunch of college kids what beer tastes the best.

My handload of choice has always been the one used by Jack O'Connor, 130 gr. bullet(I use Nosler Ballistic Tips) and 60 gr. of Hodgdon 4831. MOA in every .270 that I've ever put it in.

Try Hornady's, im not sure what all grain weights they offer for the .270 but they are great shells. I currently shoot 139 gr. BTSP Hornadys out of my 7mm Mag and they shoot tighter groups than anything else i shoot. I also use 140 gr. Rem Core-lokts and though they reallly get the job done they dont shoot quit as accurately as the hornadys.
