does anyone use a rifle butt stock sleeve for their hunting rifle? it seems like a good idea, but was curious if they get in the way while hunting. it would be nice to be able to have all my ammo on the gun, but i'm not sure if it's really that important seeing as i hold 3 extras in the magazine. what;s your take?

I've used one on my Browning single shot for years. I keep 4 extra rounds in it. It doesn't give me a problem at all. I slit a small hole for the rear sling swivel, It helps it stay in place.

I have used one for a long time now, and like Wingbone I too slit a hole for the sling swivel. I think it is a good way to keep extra cartridges quiet, although I have never needed the extra ammo on any of my hunts. My dad shoots left handed, and he has one on his 30-06. My advice is if you shoot a left handers gun, take off the sleeve first. I speak from experience.

I have them on all of my centerfire rifles, but the only time I find it really handy is when groundhog hunting, I have been out and used the 3 in the mag, and 4 or 5 outta the sleeve. When Deer hunting though, I just havent found the need for it. I have never had the need for more than 3 shots at one time for a deer (not to sound conceeded).

i have one on my 44 mag. it holds nine and that's plenty for most any kind of hunting. so i can leave the rounds in the sleeve and when i'm ready i just put it in a case and go.
