Good for you! I've been killing deer for over 50yrs and stalked every one.
I don't shoot them at the intersection or sitting in a tree. I hunt deer!

All the over 200 deer I have shot were under 100yds. Yes if you don't know
how to get close, than by all means, use your tactics, you really need them!

Dude you don't need to be a jerk about it. The guy asked about sighting in a rifle, not sneaking up and clubbing them to death. Why do you bother using a gun then? And why would you bother sighting it in at 100 yards? From what I can see on these boards you have a few long range weapons. Why if you don't use them? You could easily use a smooth bore, or a bow if you are that good.

You hunt the way you want and I will hunt the way I want. I don't just use my weapons for hunting, I actually like to shoot them and see how proficient I can become with them. 8 inch groups at any yardage would be embarassing to me. If you like to stalk deer, feel free. I prefer to snyper them when they don't know it's coming. I'm not really looking for a challenge when trying to kill something, I'm looking for dead deer. I want to be as effecient as I can. If I wanted challenge I would get rid of all my weapons and get a long bow.

I'm glad your a good hunter and have been doing for a long time. I don't have any trouble admiting I'm not that great of a hunter. That is why I don't hunt off the ground with my bow, I would rarely have any good results. To me that would just be frustrating and not very fun at all. More power to you if you like what you are doing that is great. However don't think everyone else in the hunting comunity has to follow your rules and ethics.

Oh, and the farthest I have shot a deer is 80 yards, doesn't mean I don't like my rifle to be capable of it if I want it to.

Paul, whats your deal? Your acting exactly like the kid JC. There was a question about sighting in, you answered, then rebel answered. But you couldn't leave his opinion alone, you had to dispute it. Need to take a look in the mirror.

I mean I expect better than 8" groups. but thats the guys opinion. He has a right to that.

And I believe I have the right to say why I feel the way I do. If someone takes that as a personal attack it is not my fault. He asked what the best way was to sight in his barrel, and I explianed my thoughts on it. I personally don't feel shooting at a 10 inch circle is the best way to sight in a gun and said why. That way the guy can make a fairly informed decision. And pick what way he wants to go about it. This is a discussion forum right? Not a make a statement and let it go forum.

I guess we both got a little bent there, I apoligize for that. I won't apologize for voicing my opinion and sticking with it though. You guys call it arguing, I call it expanding on my point. People can have varying opinions with out taking it personally.

And yes, that is the type of guy I am when in response to comments like this:

" Good for you! I've been killing deer for over 50yrs and stalked every one.
I don't shoot them at the intersection or sitting in a tree. I hunt deer!

All the over 200 deer I have shot were under 100yds. Yes if you don't know

How did you figure I would take that? All I did was dissagree with your method of sighting in, now I am lazy and a bad hunter. That was a leap. I guess I should have been happy at that and thanked you for it. Sorry, I guess the shoe does fit.

I re read some of my posts and had my girlfriend read them. She said some of them sounded pretty darn condescending to read. They made sense when I read them aloud and explained them, but to read them, not so nice I guess.

I sincerlely apologize for that, that was not my intention at all. It sounded ok in my head because I know the inflections I want to use, written down I guess it does not translate so well. I think if we were in a room talking about it you would not have been as offended, or maybe I would have said it differently. And the whole discussion would have taken 10 or 20 minutes not two days.

After seeing how it sounded I can understand why you said what you did. I'm kind of passionate about the technical side of it sometimes and took it a bit far.

That is the bad thing about the internet, things get lost in the translation.

I promise I will let it go now, I just wanted to apologize.

It's all good then.

Neal, we would all still like to know how it turns out for you, what ever method you decide on. I would like to see you happy with your set up.
