I agree with Quilly.. I have a Big Bore 94 in 375 Winchester, and it's a good rifle. I'm trying to work up accurate loads with cast bullets, and haven't found the right combination yet. I do know that a 270gr bullet at almost 2000fps creates a pretty good backthrust.
My "dream" lever action would be probably a Marlin in 45 Colt, but with Ballard rifling, NO PORTING, and about a 20" barrel. I could certainly live with a Winchester set up the same way, though. I think a 325gr hardcast bullet at about 1600fps or so would be a major thumper.. for deer, hogs, armoured personnel carriers, whatever...
although the 480 does sound like fun.....
