Default .22 barrel life

I was wondering how long the barrel life on a .22 long rifle would be if it was used normally. How many shots could you get out of it?

I don't know exactly but they last a long time. My 77/22 has has probably 4000-5000 rounds through it and it is still a tack driver. I couldn't tell you how many shots my dads 77/22 has had but I know it is more than mine, his still shoots awesome too.

My Win 52 has close to 100,000 rnds thru it and still a tack driver .
I bought it used from our club ,it was the loaner rifle for 22 shoots for 20+ years.

I dare say, if you don't abuse it, give it a little care, and clean it now & then -it will outlast you!

With a Ruger 10/22 semi auto, What is the best way to clean it? Do they sell a guide for the tipe of the barrel? Would anyone suggest just using a bore snake?

Thanks
Tom

you might try looking at the otis gun cleaning kits. you can use it for all of your guns depending on the kit you buy.

Have a gunsmith drill a hole in the back of the receiver and you can clean it from the rear instead of from the muzzle. Don't worry, it won't make the receiver weak or anything like that and you won't be able to see it while it is in the stock.

A 22lr will last virtually forever if you take care of it. You won't be able to wear out the barrel.

OTIS... is the way to go.....Irecomend the tactical kit, but they have a kit specifically for small calibers as well....

As always from the breech to muzzle......

When you fire your gun, the powder residue and dirt are in the barrel. The chamber and receiver are clean. If you run a brush or patch from the muzzle end you will push this dirt, residue, and moisture into the chamber and receiver. This is a major cause of stuck cases or problems with lever actions and auto-loading rifles and shotguns. If you push or pull a brush back toward the chamber, you will notice the brush will throw the debris from the bore back into the chamber and locking lugs.

Tell me you are kidding about the drilling a hole thing.

Would anyone just use a bore snake?

the bore snakes work great on any gun. before anyone ever thought of a bore snake we used to tie a small weight on a string and pull the brush and a rag threw. this also cleans the chamber real well. we were doing this back in the 60's. the army has used them for even longer than that. back to your ? yes use the bore snake on your auto loader.
