You couldn't have picked a more versitile caliber than the 300 win mag..for the game you have choosen to hunt..

What wrong with the 300win mag for grizzley bears???? IF you got 200 or 220 gr. bullets that gun for bear is just enough for taking a bear down at ANY RANGE. And for picking a a more versitle caliber than the 300win mag that makes me laugh that gun is perfect for ne big game animal North America. I have what my dad has done with his 300win mag to deer at 412yards and even though deer arent that big but when he shot that deer(buck) he was facing up hill and he was heading down hill!!(And i was n a spoting scope watching him shot at the buck and the shot that hit the bcuk spun him around to be facing up hill and never moved fro that spot at all)I have seen my dad shot a Bull elk with a 180 grain bullet (winchester) at 234Yards and that elk took two steps and fell and never got up again. So is a 300 good for everything in the N.A. yeah just do some research on ballistics and etc.

Wow! I didn't realized I'd get this many responses, both heated and informative. Thanks for all the posts guys, you've answered my questions and then some.

Hunter4life81, has anyone ever said to you that you
look like Mickey Rooney?

When I use to go to Colorado, the guides minimum
on high country hunting was .338 cal.. I have taken
my BLR .358 and A-Bolt .338 on one trip.

Hunter4..I'm lost on what your trying to say to me..
My quote was He couldn't (could not) have picked a more versitile
caliber than the 300win mag..
Meaning it is totally approriate for deer elk, moose ,bear (Grizzlies,Black)sheep and goat..etc..
My opinion is if one wanted to hunt all thes big game animals and only had 1 gun to do it all.
.The 300win mag is perfect..

As far as the picture goes Thats Don Cherry..
He hosts Coaches Corner on Hockey Night in Canada..
He also coached the Boston Bruins and Atlanta Flames back in the
mid 70's and 80's....
He is a Hockey Legend recognized by hockey fans all around the World..
And 1 proud Canadian and very Pro -American as well..

Since many Grizzley have been taken with the 30-06( including mine), the 300 Win Mag should do the job just as well. The old 30-40 Krag worked well for my Granddad and uncles before me. Use the 200 Grain Partition or the 200 Grain Barnes X bullet. The 308, 30-06 or the 300 Mags will do the same job out to 200 yards. The Magnums add another 100 to the range. I have used the 300 Win mag and 300 Weatherby Mag both. Have not tried the 300 WSM but its has close to the same numbers so It would be a good choice too.
