Nope only hunted whitetail deer in texas, but i know that virginia has smaller deer than texas. I know virginia is not a top destination for trophy whitetail hunting. You do not have to hunt somewhere to find out about the size of the deer. For one the nutrition deer recieve (naturally) in texas is hard to beat. The south texas brush has a very high protien and mineral content. This coupled with genetics is why the deer in texas have such large antlers and somewhat smaller body sizes. I am not saying virginia has bad hunting, I am just saying texas has bigger deer. But i really dont want to fight this one again.

If you have any doubt about this just go to one of the links i provided earlier. If thers anything that compares in Virginia please let me know.

Are you refering to the mountains in maryland, or somehwere else? Just wondering.

Also what secret are you refering to?
Nope, WV/Ky mountains. I usually swamp hunt here in MD. And bow hunt around the suberbs. I have lived in several states.

Secret I was referring to was that Tx wild, unraised, deer are so much bigger than other deer in the country. Like the ones in Ill, or Iowa. Wild deer not messed with by humans.

No fight I just wanted to know. You say you know did you read it in a book or somthing, if it is in print it must be true? My last years deer was a 8 point with a 21 inch inside spread and was 182 pounds thats whats you get here in va. but thats all I will say on the matter I read all the rest of your post and to say anything more is a waste of time. Good luck with all of them giant deer you have in texas we here in va are quite happy with what we have here.

I by no means said that the deer in the midwest were smaller than Texas deer. They are equally as big if not bigger in some occasions. I said most states dont stack up to texas deer. Iowa has some monster deer as do many other midwestern states. And they do "mess" with their deer up there. Thats major food plot country. But i do not find that deer that have been messed bad, i feel people should try to improve their deer herd as much as possible.

Bigcountry let this argument end on that note. Good luck to you.

Alright well fill me in on the facts, bud. What are these facts? Unless you are a deer biologist or an outdoor writer and such your job has nothing to do with the quality of deer in the 48 states. (correct me if i am wrong)

The facts are that the midwest and texas are the best places to hunt whitetailed deer if your after a trophy deer. And to say that the midwestern deer are not messed with is ridaculous and you know it. I do not find anything wrong with "messing" with deer. Helping your deer herd improve is nothing to be ashamed of. End of story.

I won't bash Texas as I lived there for five years and you are right, it has some awesome deer. But it's very obvious from your statements you have never hunted or know anything about Virginia deer and Virginia hunting.

All i said was that Texas produces bigger deer on average than Virginia. I am not saying VA has bad deer hunting. VAhuntr am I wrong in saying that?
