Its because its not a bad rifle. Its the shooter
It is not because of the shooter that the 710 has the barrel pressed into the action so it can't be replaced.
It is not the shooter that is responsible for the 710 action to be so rough that it feels like it is full of gravel.
I personally feel that remington would have been far better off to bring back the 788 instead of introducing the 710.

stubblejumper,
Man, I've had some 788's that were awesome shooters. You run across a dud every now and then but most of the 788's I've seen were well built and good shooters. I have no use for 710's other than as an inferior boat anchor.

ORIGINAL: stubblejumper

I am not defending the 710.My statement meant that anyone that would buy a 710 to save a few dollars would never spend money to have one reblued.I personally think the 700 is a total waste of money in the first place.
Why is the 700 a total waste of money? It's got one of the most widely used actions, and is proven reliable. Why would you even say that? It hurt my feelings.

OOPS.My mistake.I punched in 700 by mistake when I meant to say that the 710 is a total waste of money.I can't believe that I didn't notice my mistake earlier and that there were no more responses to my mistake. personally use the 700 action on all of my rifles and believe it to be a good design..

Does this mean that using a 710 action on my Custom .416 Rem is a bad idea??

You may want to put a heavy bag over your head.

I personally like Winchesters,But it is hard to beat a Savage out of the box.I would save my coins untill I saw something that i really liked then get that one.As far as caliber for the game you mentioned the 25.06,7 mm-08,would work nicely..JMHO

So I think I've decided to go with the Savage or the 700. I've kinda narrowed my search down to 3 calibers, which would you suggest.... 25-06, 30-06, or .270
