For deer, coyotes and pronghorn the 25-06 would be the ideal choice.Plenty of power for any deer, flat shooting and light recoil.

There are reports of the 710 bolts coming back in shooters faces. I'd stay clear of these.

I don't see how, the lugs would keep that from happening. It still locks up like a regular bolt. Now I hear of bolt handles coming off.

If you're willing to spend a little bit more, i'd go with the Remington. the good thing about the .270 is the ammo is a little more accessible, at least where i'm at.

Why is the 700 a total waste of money
OOPS.My mistake.I punched in 700 by mistake when I meant to say that the 710 is a total waste of money.I can't believe that I didn't notice my mistake earlier and that there were no more responses to my mistake. personally use the 700 action on all of my rifles and believe it to be a good design..
ok scared me a little

BC. While they were good shooting rifles, I lost the bolt handle on a couple of 788 Remingtons as well. I found a gunsmith to weld instead of soldering them back on. Remington said they could only replace the bolt for which they wanted more than what the guns sold for in the first place.

To add to the cornfusion, I just went to the Gander mountain grand opening in Denver a week ago and saw a bunch of 270's and 243's in the remington 700adl for $319. I picked up the last 30-06 ADL they had for the same $319. They said they are getting rid of all the old ADL's due to the new 700 SPS taking thier place. Might wanna check out a Gander mountain near you. EJ

That would be the smart choice everyone has the old ADl's on sale for almost same price as a 710.

I have nothing but negativity about the mossberg rifle here, and it is probably earned but the 270 I looked at seemed fine. The bolt was a little more wobbly than my brand new 700 bolt, but it didnt seem all that horrible. I was thinking of picking one up from a guy who is suddenly against hunting ( a boulderite) for 100 bucks. I will definatly post the results. EJ
