Jepcho, the Rem 710 has silicon and teflon parts in the action.
If you it have reblued it will disolve in the tank

So who would bother to reblue a 710 anyways?

If you are short of money and want a good shooting rifle, get an NEF Handi rifle in 7mm-08. This caliber in the handi rifle shoots very well and is ideal for what you are seeking. You can get one for 200-225 dollars. When you want to move on to something different you can sell it for about 65-70 percent of what you have in it. I have one in 7mm-08 and also in 280. No problem shooting 1 1/2 or better groups with either of them. I have either six or seven more of them so the other two don't get lonley.
My name is James and I am a Handi-Holic.

jepcho, I also opt for the Savage. Like maybe a model 111 or the model 11. They're not real pretty, but they shoot great and thats the bottom line. My last 3 rifle purchases have been Savage and the more I shoot them the more impressed I am with them.
As for caliber selection, for what you are going to use it for, whitetail, coyotes and maybe mulies, I would opt for either a 7mm-08 or 270 or the 30-06. These are plenty of muscle for these critters. And, probably too much for coyotes. You don't need a belted magnum for mulies as many would have you believe. My favorite deer rifle (mulies and whitetail) is my Remington 700 in .270. It has never failed me yet with Nosler 130 gr ballistic tip bullets.
