Butch, you ought to try the 31/2" if you think the 3" is hard on you.

there just aint no sense in that!!!!!

Hey! I tried it one time only when I bought the early Moss 835
and that's what I said...there is no sense in this! 3" is more than
enough.

I have a Moss 835 and one time I shot a 3 1/2 goose load off a bench ( I was testing if it would work as a turkey load) and I would have to rate it as bad as a 416Rem a friend let me shoot. Standing up a 3 1/2 load wasn't as bad but now with Hevi-shot and the other new shot I use 3 in shells. Off the bench my 300 Win mag I get about 40 shots before it is enough it is heavy with a good recoil pad, I learned to shoot with my fathers 03-A3 Springfield but it had a short stock and a metal buttplate and I would say it kicked harder than the 300.

My worst is a 3.5" Browning BPS 12 gauge. Using the 2&5/8 ounce turkey loads from Nitro and a .660 Rhino choke, it is brutal off the bench but not too bad under field conditions.

I've seen the 3 1/2" super magnums. I can't imagine a slug from one of them! Whoa... [&:]

Butch A.
Imagine a hot rodded .450-70 (smokeless load.) Numbers are pretty similiar for the two.
