The 45-70 is the only on that list that really bothers me - my Marlin guide gun with 450 and heavier bullets is really painful - on the positive side - it does knock game down very fast.

I can't say I've ever shot a .30-30 that felt like it kicked more than any .308 I have shot.

I agree the 7 mag is entirely too much recoil for me..I cant even imagine shooting them damn thumpers you guys use without using a vice and a rope.

I shoot a .450 marlin and it will definitely thump you pretty good. It is like shooting a 12 gauge w/ magnum shells. The other guns really don't bother me and I have most of them.

With the bum shoulder I have to weat the Past Magnum + recoil shiel and use the shooter Friend slip on recoils pad. Even then its painful. But I keep telling myself that its fun.

I have shot a lot of 12gauge ,& 30.06, a bit of 270 win also& even some 30.30,s - a 20 guage never id much rather have the 30.30 even . some variables as yall say - but the one i remember most be the stiff handloads with heavy bullets in a 45.70 pistol.

....or a 12 ga pump with 3" slugs.
Yow.... My shoulder knows exactly what you are talking about! A Remington 870 or whatever 12GA pump gun with 3" magnum slugs can darn near spin you around and knock you out of your boots, if you don't pay attention.

Butch, you ought to try the 31/2" if you think the 3" is hard on you.

I've seen the 3 1/2" super magnums. I can't imagine a slug from one of them! Whoa... [&:]

I shot one 3 inch 1 7/8 oz. turkey load out of my 12 gauge Savage Model 67, at a turkey target while sittin' with my back up against a tree. The next morning I bought a Mossberg 500 20 gauge. Too much is enough![:@]
