Default Whacked em today...

Today was the kind of day you look up into the beautiful sky and thank the Lord himself for all his grandeur and wonderful friends to enjoy it with. 2 great friends of mine (a father/son duo) met me at my lake in west TN after sunrise and by the time we took a break for lunch and finally called it a day around 3-3:30 we boated over 60 bass with numerous 2-3#ers and nearly 10 that were 4-nearly 6#s. The day broke cloudy with a rainshower coming in around lunch. So the topwater bite was strong all morning and without steady sun the temperature was wonderful. We even took an hour or so to dunk little jigs for some crappie and bream action. The best bass of the day (5# 11oz) was caught by buds dad and I caught 4 over 4#s via BPS digital scale. The fish in my lake weathered the record floods of earlier this year pretty good. Numbers are down some, but the quality fish are still there and ALL of the fish we caught are in extremely healthy, hard fighting, "pull like freight train" condition.

now it's time to start getting the place ready for hunting season,
HL

ps
The "guidein" and pic taking was done by my bud. That's his father and I holding a few of our better ones for the camera.

Thanks Chuck, yeah that's one of the awesome parts of my lake, I just bought the place last Oct and fished it in Sept before that. The hotter it gets, the better we seem do. It's a river oxbow lake so during the wet season the water fluctuates alot and the color and current messes with the the fish. But with the low water of the dry season it really stabilizes and the fishing is much better. It's really nice to because I'm 1 hour from Pickwick and KY Lake and by this time of year the bassin gets considerably slower (except for some nights).

We caught fish in early November lastyear before deer season opened but after that the lake gets alot colder and muddier. I fished in January after deer season closed and the only thing I could muster a few bites from was crappie. The bass didn't get consistent until later into February. With our record floods this spring mid-April through early-July was pretty much a washout.

Give me a bottom bumper (brush hog, worm, jig etc), a spinnerbait and the occasional crankbait and I'm a HAPPY man!
