Hey guys...I got a question. I fish a farm pond behind our house, and it is usually kinda murky. I mean, from the boat, I can' t see real far down into the water, but if a fish comes up close to the surface, I can see it. I don' t use a fishfinder, all I use is what' s in my tackle box, my rod, and a 12-ft aluminum boat. I fish when it is anywhere from 50 degrees to 80 degrees. What kind and what color lure do I use when I am fishing these conditions. There are some lawn bushes out in there that we' ve thrown out there, and there are some branches that we threw in there. All provide good cover for Largemouths. All of the cover that I know of is close to the bank. What lure should I use, what color should I use, and under what conditions when I fish these areas?
I' ve heard that a red and white lure of anykind will trigger a strike when the fish aren' t biting. Is this true?

Thats pretty broad. There are several baits that would work, but if your cover is close to the bank, heavy, and the water is murky I would use either a jig and pig or a soft plastic bait like a powerbait in a six to eight inch worm texas rigged. Color is tough. It depends on a lot of factors, and you might want to look at some previous posts on the subject. I would use either black with some bright blue for either a jig and pig or a soft plastic, or in a soft plastic especially, you might want to try a shock color like electric watermelon or some other color like that. Really it all depends on your fish. Just experiment with different lures at different depths. Also don' t forget to work an area completely before leaving. Another thing about your water conditions that might help would be rattles and some sort of scent. If a fish has problems seeing a bait it becomes even more important to trigger their other senses. Hope that helps.
