Baiting for Bullhead "catfish" {pics}
Well, some of you may be unfamiliar with Bullhead, but to me they are a smaller, fiesty catfish.
I had been baiting for 3 days with rotten fish guts, chicken gibblets and liver. Had fish continually hitting the bait night after night.
My girlfriend and I set up shop last night and fished from 10:30 until 1 in the morning, having the funnest time in the world!
Didn't get any pictures of the night action, sadly.
This is down at the lake, count the fish.
After I got them up to the house, two of the stinkers snuck out the bottom of the fish basket, I hate fish baskets.
This is somewhat tradition, something my dad and his brothers would do every weekend all summer long. Just reliving the days!!!

Damn, that brings back fond memories. When i was in my teens we had a couple of good spots on the local lake that was full of them. My step-grandfather and i hit it on a couple of occasions and caught stringers of bullheads that i could barely lift. Decent eating too when you get them that far north and from reasonably clean water.

We fish white perch late up here, the last time I went out a couple of people from Mass was up fishing. They couldn't understand why I was catching perch on almost every cast. SoI told them where to catch some that would be easier for them. They fished to close to the bottom and caught a pile of bullheads. I told them they should fish up about 2 - 3 feet for the perch. They were very happy to be catching those bullheads and stated it was the best fishing they ever had.. So congrats on your catch and I am glad you and your girlfriend had a great time. Up here there is no limit on them as most of us throw them back..

Yes maine has alot of clean waters and they are probally great eating but, we just throw them back and go after the cold water fish types for table fare.. For 2 1/2 hours you can fill a bucket full of bullheadseasily up here.. White PerchI can only keep 25 at a time but, I love to fry them up..

Man you sound like me! Me and all my buddies go out to the local lake and fish for cats all night long, we wanna catch the channels, but we end up with loads of bullhead. There good eating if you feel like cleaning them, just don't get stung.
