Use your brain?!Ugh! I fish for relaxation-please, no brain power! Seriously,I like fighting a big bass too.I can think of some great days of creek wading, and flipping a minnow or crawfish out and WHAM! A big buckcreek largemouth thrashing right before your eyes. But I like a variety. It's hard for me to contemplate someone focusing on one fish all of the time.(BTW catfisherman can be as bad as bassers for this.)

Maybe because there easy to catch. They are like my 3rd favorite species to catch with catfish and crappie beating the crap out of them.

I started fishing about 2 yrs ago. I' ve been everywhere from local ponds catchin bass to small rocky rivers after trout and smallmouth and even the mighty mississipi catchin catfish that took two men to get in the boat. This year Im goin to some lakes after the large mouth which has by far got my attention the most(we dont have any lakes with a good smallmouth pop) I cant wait till this rain quits and the temp rises. Yeah I bought my 8 year old a fishin pole for his birthday and thought i better get one too just to keep him company. Been fishin like mad ever since

Guess it`s what you are used to.
I have caught a few good sized muskie, and they are fun, but they give up pretty fast.
Northerns, I`ve caught a kazillion of them, they eat too many crappie.

Bass...largemouth, smallmouth, spots, it don`t matter. Something about tournament fishing for bass. I can`t get enough of it!

basserman, do you have a lot of local tournaments up your way?
What kind of boat do you have?

I can' t think of a better experience than hooking into a big lunker. I caught a nine pounder last year, and, let me tell you, it is a thrill. Small mouths are unreal too, and I can' t say about Pike and Muskies. I live in the South and here Largemouth is king.

i totaly agree with you, i dont know what the big deal about bass fishing is. All you see on tv is bass fishing. id like to see more crappie, pike, perch, and walleye fishing on tv. I dont see what the big deal of largemouth bass is. sure they are fun to catch but so are all the other kinds of fish out their.

Bass will jump out of the water trying to throw the hook. Not all fish make this type of presentation, sure some do but most don' t. With bass you gotta outsmart them, you hafta win, when using lures.

Sure Bluegill are fun, and exciting. Ya gotta outsmart ' em also. but gee, toss in a cricket and they bite. all ya gotta outsmart ' em in is gettin ' em outa the roots they live under.

Yeah, catfish can pull on a line harder than anuthing else, pound for pound, and they taste better. But they don' t jump, and if they are there they' ll bite when they see the chicken liver.
