Default Does rooster tail size matter?

well there are a lot of sizes for rooster tail and i was wondering if it mattered what size to get? i got the smallest because i figure i could get everything with it...but it says that the 3/8 is suitable for largemouth. so i was wondering would the size matter? and what is the difference in sizes? hooks or what..

I am probably the ' Rooster Tail ' man on here. Fact, I was just getting ready to make an order at Bass Pro...

Yes sir, the hooks are different on most models..I use to only use the 1/4 ounce because that is what most stores carry. Cabelas and Bass Pro both carry 3/8th ounce. The hook is a shade bigger than th e1/4 ounce and will easily cast 50 yds. The hackle nicely covers the treble hook. Cabelas does sell 1/2 ounce..I bought some..the hackle does not cover the treble hooks and I got no bites on them..I've caught 100s of bass on the 1/4 and 3/8th ounce..The problem I'm having with them is the pretty white hackle turns a brownish color.I plan to experiment with a bleach solution..

I use the small 1 /16th for bluegill but I muat say they are not as good as the Panther Martin. Our Florida largemouth would easily come loose on anything smaller than a 1/4 ounce..

Bass Pro has a new color ..Siver Metallic..I plan to order some in about 20 minutes...along with my favirite color white.

You can catch many different species of fish on the Rooster Tail. Landing a fish is very challenging because th ehooks are not the sharpest in the world and they seem to do all the acrabatic jumps and runs on the little lure..I puposely use a median rod and let that fish keep th erod doubled up all the way to the net. ...I've had many Rooster Tails just fall out of the fishes mouth once in the net, I always use a net when fishing those lures.
