Default does size matter

would you use the smaller broadheads, slick tricks, nitrons, on game no larger than deer or would you use them for elk and other larger game. thanks........Mitch

depends on the setup and situtation I guess. But, I know a Muzzy will kill any game animal in North America. Personally, I wouldn't use a mechanical on larger game, but it has been done.

Fact is, you puncture the lung and it's over.

As mentioned, and as we ALL know, it comes down to shot placemet. That being said look at all these new popular 1" heads..... compared to legendary performers, something like the ol' Thunderhead or Muzzy..... 3/16 of an inch extra isn't hardly anything extra. Use these new generation b-heads in total confidence.... they're awesome!

I agree with IL that 3/16" will make little diffrence on a dead animal, dead is dead. As long as the BH is a good match for you arrow set up and the arrow is tuned to the bow there should be little diffrence in performance.

IMO the design of the BH has more to do with performance then size. As long as the head is cutting well and allows for the animal to leave a good blood trail then size isn't an issue.
