I bought my first St Croix rod last year for trout and I will never buy anything else. The Premier rods run between $60 and $150 depending on what you buy. I used to only buy Walmart rods and I got tired of never feeling bites and them breaking after one season. I think it's worth the money to get a better rod and they are made in the USA.

I have always used uglysticks. They are available at wal-mart and cost about 40.00 with a life time warranty.
