M.T...Nope..Read about waterdogs but never used them for bait or even seen one..

Childers..never used either of those lures..

American eel is in my opinion very similar to catfish...Very good fried...I've eaten a few, but gave most I caught to my Grandpa, who LOVED them....

For frying fish....Cornmeal or flour.....??..

Tube,,

I tried 2 new lures last year...
1. A jig
2. A tube.

I tried a jig all morning in a decent spot...I got 2 hits ..caught one.

2. Tried a tube...WOW ! they are deadly..I had a small split shot in front of the hook. The 3 inch tube would first float...than slowly fill with water..Then it would slowly swim to the bottom..and wham! The bass would bust it. I had a hard time setting the hook on them I eventually left the hook sticking out. They still hit it and on just a tap I would cross their eyes. I love the tube. Now that one of the best weekends of the year is coming up I will give the jig one more shot...

Next question

Do any of ya birdwatch when you fish.?

Sometimes in the fall , when warblers are migrating I carry my binoculars. If a Prothonatory Warbler is flitting on a leaf after a drop of dew..the rod comes down and the optics come on..Now I don't grab them unless it's a serious good bird . Heres a Prothonatary right here.

YES...I birdwatch whenever I'm hunting OR fishing..

Sometimes the fish aren't biting too fast, or the deer aren't moving or the turkeys aren't gobbling...In those times I get a lot of pleasure out of watching non-game birds and wildlife, and in the case of birds, I find it's much more enjoyable if you know what you're looking at...Last summer during my fishing trip to Alaska I was in AWE seeing so many different species of birds and sea mammals...

Sometimes , when fishing local lakes during the BIKINI season, it's fun doing a DIFFERENT kind of birdwatching.........

Do you usually BUY nightcrawlers or gather your own....??...
