06 Ice Fishing Season Has Officially Begun
Well went out ice fishing today and the weather was absoloutely amazing. It was about 12 degrees C with the sun without it was about 5 degrees C cause the wind would pick up. But the lines werent in the water for 2 mins and one guy i was out there with caught a little 5inch rainbow so we figured it was gonna be a good day..... Not. All day the fish would just take tiny nibbles then piss off. They never really hit the line and they werent even bitting alot. I did manage to catch one and he was really green i found. He was about 9 inches but i had a craving for trout so i kept him. Nice lil snack for later. But ive always found that the fishing really picks up late Feb early Mar anyways.

Nice country that you fish. I haven't got a chance yet. Stupid High School holding me back. Waiting very impatiently for Ice Fishing Break aka Christmas Break.

No ice here yet just a few small ponds starting to skim over and rain coming in a few more days. I can not wait to go get some splake and a few big brookies thru the ice.

Well season began on thursday and it is now over. In southern wisconsin I wouldn't have walked out onto the ice before thursday. Spent the entire weekend on the ice with some good success. Now it is in the upper 40's and the ice is melting fast. At this rate I might be able to put my boat back in next weekend.

No fishable ice yet in Northern Vermont on Lake Champlain. I can't wait and this time last year I was already out there. Open water in front of my house and at this rate it won't freeze due to the deep water and wind. Did get my 4 wheeler so I am ready when it freezes in the bays.
