Default The war has officially begun!

Well I now that I have a deer to make deer sticks with I can start to hunt for one and only one deer. This was made possible by me shooting a small buck last night with my muzzleloader. This is the 3rd small buck Ive seen in 3 nights (not consecutive), and there are even more than that around so I was glad to get rid of at least one. There are 2 nice 9 pointers that I am praying will make it to next season. I want to thank eveyone that put tips and advice in the tracking thread as it helped me tremendously to find the deer and to give me the confidence that I made a good shot. I double lunged him perfectly but he barely bled out on the ground. What blood I did find was very bright red so I figured that I had got him in the lungs. I was worried the way he hunched up when I shot, that I had gut shot him. I will keep you guys posted on how the war with Hercules plays out.

Picture of the stand that my dad and I built over the summer. Behind it is a river and the bucks run it during the rut.

Picture from the base of the stand. I have another blind that is behind the clump of trees to the righthand side of the picture that I took the small deer out of. When we built it we didnt plan on me bow hunting so we put it in a centrally located spot where all the corners and funnels are out of bow range.

The one and only deer that will get an arrow stuck in him. Unless of course a deer of equal or greater size shows up, but thats pretty unlikely.

I'm confused. Why would you want to "get rid ofatleast one" of your small bucks? WCL
