I'm going to get a big cat rod pretty soon so i can hopefully hook into some nice size catfish. My question is, how should i rig the line/hooks/ sinkers? Any websites with pictures on how to do it would be cool too. What size hooks should i use? and what kind of bait?
thanks

To many varialables to narrow down how to rig up.... lakes? rivers? ponds? Rocks? Timber? Flatheads? Missippippi whites? channel cats? Blues? What kind of bait??
It all makes a difference. Channel cats feed mostly right along the bottom. Mississippi whites and flatheads feed a bit up off the bottom. I primariely rig my rods 2 ways. Either with a egg sinker, swivel, leader, and hook. Or I go with a 3 way swivel... and use 2 leaders, one with a hook and one with a weight. Size of the hook should be determined by the bait your fishing with. I'm sure others on here and more qualfied than me about this so I'll let them have at it.

Hey Tom .
Well Tom , as others have said it all depends on.
1. How far you have to cast to get to your quarry ?
2. Fishing from boat or shore?
3. Running River or still lake?
4. Big channels or be flatheads?
Here is my expereince fishing for big channels..
1. I'm fishing from a boat...so I need no heavy sinker to cast. I simply fish big minnows or shiners using a #2 worm hook{ Straight shank}tied to the end of my line.
2. About 10" up I clinch on a BB sized split shot to keep my bait down but light enough in which it can swim freely. { Hook minnows gently through the upper lip} live longer that way.
Shiners are hooked about 1/8th inch below the dorsel fin.
3. Keep bait about 2 to 3 foot off the bottom.
Line.....Power Pro 30 pound test will catch anything
Nice post.
