when the white flies are coming off on the Susquehanna here in central PA, you can catch anything in the river on the surface, catfish are common, walleye are too... even the carp get in on the feeding frenzy and hit on the surface...

I have seen catfish rise to flies...though not very often. They typically are bottom feeders but then I have heard of them eating just about everything at one time or another.

The wife and I went fishing and werent catching ANYTHING until we switched to rubber minnows. We caught about 13 catfish in a little uder 3 hours. Rubber minnows you may ask??? The answer is yes about 1 inch long. We got some pretty decent sized ones too, over 13 inches.
