Hi gman1969,

In regard to your question about carry options.....one way to check out some of your options is to visit the various holster maker's sites.....and check out their product lines. An even better way.....if you have a local vendor that caters to either CCW or the police market.....they will have a reasonably large assortment.

Otherwise check some of the publications that cater to combat handgunning, concealed carry, and law enforcement.

Good luck!

Hi again gman1969,

This list is by no means complete.....but it links to quite a number of holster manufacturers:

By the way....there are makers of concealment jackets, vests, fanny packs, etc., (though most people think of holsters).

Hope this helps!

When OH gets their requirements and training ironed out, they just passed the CCW law three weeks to a month ago, I'll be getting my CCW.

I will carry a S&W Model 661 4" barrel. I ahven't figured out what load I will use yet.

One thiing about carrying a large revolver, is that you want it to be inconspicuous. You do not want someone to see that you are carrying. For me, that is not a problem as I am 6'6" tall and weigh 320 pounds (soon to be 265 when I finish losing all of my weight after surgery). I ahve a large torso/frame and can carry a large handgun withut it showing. If you are a small guy, then you might have a problem unless you go with a 2"-2 1/2" barrel. I prefer the 4" barrel for more accuracy and I can take it hunting as well.

The Taurus 627 Tracker Stainless(7 shot) 4" is a great carry size revolver. It's light and ported to reduce recoil. I would reccommend it to anyone. I got mine new for $380. When I took my concealed carry, it kept everything in the 10 ring.

Another option is Taurus Total Titanium 544 in 44spcl. With a 2" bl it weighs 19oz unloaded. Recoil is pretty stiff w/ 240gr loads and almost unmanagable w/ 300gr loads, even though it's ported. I think I'll try downloading some 180s and see if that's better.
