i know which rifle im gonna get (savage 12FV) but i dunno which caliber to get....
i will be using it for long range shots out to 400 yards or so on yotes, fox, crows, chucks, etc. i dont care bout the hides so i was just wondering which one shoots flatter and is more accurate with factory varmint cartridges from remington, winchester, etc.
just wnana know which one is more accurate and flat shooting.
thx for the help

if you are just gonna use it for those animals listed the 22-250 will work just fine . as far as flat shooting that is a toss up depending on the ammo used , i would use 55 gr in 243 , and 40 gr 22-250 . the 243 will give you more use as a deer rifle and a varmit rifle. check out the .220 swift

You can never be overgunned IMHO. As far as trajectory they are essentialy the same. The .243 packs a bigger punch and can also be used on deer. I would go with the .243

I prefer the 22-250 for an all around varmint rifle, but the .243 will hold up a little better against a slight breeze at longer ranges. But the 22-250 shoots flat, doesn't kick, and with the right bullet just destroys a varmint's insides.

Sense u wont be hunting deer with it the 243 isnt needed but will do better on windy days. Also with a 243 you get bullet weights from 55-105 grains. The 243's best varmint bullets range in the 70-80gr catagory. The 243 winchester is probly the best coyote/deer caliber.

CH312, the .22-250 would be a hard round to beat for the purposes that you are going to use it for. Feed it a good diet of 55 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips and you'll have a varmint's worst nightmare!
Good luck!

If you looking at 400 yd shots I would go with the 22-250 with 55 gr bullets. The 40-45 gr bullets will have a lot more drift in the wind. On the other hand the 243 with 75 gr bullets are quite potent and perform a little better in the wind.

I use the 243 win and a Barnes 75 gr X bullet @ 3400 +fps . Works great on coyotes and bobcats for me . The 22-250 might have a bit more range ,but I prefer the 243 , Accuracy is about equal . I get less pelt damage with the 243 also .
