Eldequello, I remember as a teenager those Sauers selling in the 300 dollar range and Wish I had bought 1/2 dozen. If your looking for highest quality in over the counter rifle I don' t know how a Kimber 84 can be beat. Will it shoot better not sure never had one so I can' t say. New Sakos are fine(except their 2x4 grade dougie fir wood stocks) and so are Weatherbys but quality wise no match for the Kimber.

eldeguello, oldelkhunter, thank you. It' s funny you mentioned the kimber rifle. I was looking at a 30-06 kimber today during lunch, when kimber was still in oregon making the long action. The only problem was that it was a 30-06, since I have 2 already. It was an extremely nice rifle, beautiful wood. The store owner told me it has never been fired. selling price[2000.00] I also asked about the sauer, they told me good luck in finding one. I am seriously thinking about the dakota line but I seem to be at a dead end when trying to get info on these rifles. I have their web but I want straight answers from hunters that has used them. NOT a payroll employee. I really appreciate the help you guys have been giving me. DAKOTA.

Glad to see someone mentioned Sauer!

I' m a huge Tikka and Sako fan also.

But a Sauer is really a piece of art. I have two Sauer 90' s, 300 WBY and 375 H&H.

Can' t say enough about them.

DG, very nice rifle indeed. IS one for sale? cannot find one anywhere. IT seems that all the good rifles are taken. Around here it seems that no one knows anything about rifles except rem, win, ruger, marlin, etc... you get the picture. every day run of the mill stuff. those are not what I consider QUALITY MADE RIFLES. Although I have at least one from all those manfacture' s. want something new, rare, something my neighbor doesn;t have, or any of the locals. The response i' m getting from this forum is awesome. Does anyone have a web I could look for a quality rifle? As this will probably be the only time in my life that I will have the money and permission from the mrs to buy a good rifle.

My apologies, I got the site wrong, Its www.Auctionarms.com.

There was a custom sauer on it that was impressive and a couple of others.

Do a search under Sauer.

Good luck,

If you can find (and afford) a Colt-Sauer or Mannlicher-Schoenauer, they are among the best. So are the Kimber and the Dakota rifles.

I would trade one of my trained setters for one of the first two, especially in .270 Win for the Sauer, or 6.5x55 or 7x57 for the Mannlicher.
