Yea that wood looks like a step up, I wonder if cabelas, or because it was for cabelas they may have picked something a tad nicer, vs jsut whatever. Most ive seen seem to just be plain american walnut......it is what it is, I just don't see myself buying a savage anytime soon. I like synthetics nowadays, though I think on an african rifle I'd want some really nice walnut.....

Every one of these are butt ugly and I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me
. Savage is not what it used be 20 years ago, they make some very nice looking rifles that shoot very well at respectable prices. The nice thing is even the cheap ugly ones still shoot good.
