If you want an accurate Mini, call up Accuracy Systems. They are pretty expensive, but they will actually shoot good.

RE: Ruger Mini 14 TARGET?
Your concerns about the AR are spot on. I get some REAL looks when I hunt with with my AR. Onlookers are really curious or really turned off.
IMO the target Ruger is awkward handling. I would not consider it the fast handling style of rifle that the standard mini is. If 100 yards and under is the goal then I would go with the standard mini. It sounds like you are reasonable and minute of fox accuracy is all you need.
I only handled one, I did not shoot it. But for the price and what I have read about it I am pretty sure it will not shoot with my RR Varminter-and those prices are pretty close. Tom.

All this talk about Mini's got me looking, and I think a see a 6.8 SPC Mini-14 in my future.
And I also agree with you about the "awkard" looks while hunting with an AR...I live in California...we get awkward looks when we have camo on.

Ya, we get the looks for camo here in mASSachusetts too. Just they call the cops on the AR's and while your trying to hunt you have cops searching for you to see whats going on.
