DcNoble I can tell you how I setup my .325 WSM if you would like. Now granted mine is the Browning A-Bolt but ballistically it shouldn't matter. Mine is sighted in 3 1/2" highat 100yards. What that does is allow for you to hold dead on out to 300 yards and still be in the kill zone easily for an elk. I shot my gun at 50,100,150,200,250,300,350 yards to confirm trajectory and with a 3 1/2" high zero at 100 it puts the Winchester Accubond CT 220 about 3.5-4" low at 300 and about 9" low at 350 yards.

That way if you happen to be in a situation where you don't have time to range the animal before you shoot you can just hold on and squeeze.

I can tell ya that if you sight in 3" high @ 100 yards that you will be pretty darn close to 7" low @ 400 yards assuming 1.5" scope height above boreline. What that will give you is a 0 to 350 yard point blank "NO THINK" range.

stalkingbear - I have to debate your comment on the Savage vs the Browning. I have both in several chamberings. The two A-bolts I have, a 7-08 and a 325 WSM are both good shooters - at least now. The 7-08 needed a bedding job and the 325 needed a trigger job. Both of these rifles were purchased new only a couple of years ago. The Savages I have on the other hand in 7-08, 223, and 30-06 never needed any additional work and shoot as well as the Brownings. The 7-08 and .223 shoot in the 1/2" range consistantly.

The .325 WSM is basically a 8mm short magnum.I'm hesitant to jumpat any new cartridge because most become dinosaurs in 5 years or less ,more so with Metric calibers.I'm sure there's nothing wrong with it but you won't be able to walk into a backwoods store and pick up another box of ammo or brass if you reload.Look at what happened to the Rem 5mm rimfire! Better balistically than both the .22 Mag and the 17HMR that is all the rage now.Reminton was foolish enough to destroy allthe tooling for the 5MM as well! Now the .204 [a 20 cal or 5mm as you wish]is hot for varmints.Reinventing the wheel again...............Harold

Of the two, Browning and Savage, I think you can expect excellent accuracy from either. Yes the Browning is a bit nicer gun but the Savage offers a great gun for the money so IMO it comes down to how much you want to spend. The 325 WSM is a good performer if you need the kind of power and recoil it puts out.
