Anyone talk about Weatherby semi-autos?

They do look like stylish shotguns, and seem like they would work good, but I think that part of it is that Weatherby doesn't have so much name recognition in the shotgun market, and the shotguns are expensive, which isn't a problem for some hunters, but a hunter in the market for an expensive auto-loading shotgun is more likely to buy a shotgun with higher name recognition, like Bennelli, or Franchi, or Ithaca, for example.

The Weatherby SAS is a very good gun. They are well made, reliable, and very easy to clean. The were first made by SKB for the first few years andnow by Valtro ofItaly. Their gas system (Valtro) is very similar to the Franchi gas system whichhas been slightly changed for the Beretta Xtrema's. The SAS comes with good features like a magazine cutoff and shims toadjust the stock. They also do a good job at cycling a wide range of loads from 3" turkey loads to 2 3/4" target loads. They can also go a long time between cleaningsif needed. Their weight is about average for a 3" auto loader. They have a good balance with a little more towards the stock. Their quality is similar to similar priced models (mid range) like the Beretta 390 Wal Mart,3901, Browning Silver, Franchi 612/712. They are a very good values. You can get a B/S SAS for around $499.00 new.
The Weatherby O/U's are made by SKB and are as good as a similar priced Beretta or Browning O/U.

Nobody can run fast enough to give me any weatherby except maybe the Vanguard. I had a Mark Five that was the biggest POC that I ever owned.[:@]
