Sounds like a good hunt, Tim. I have 10 more days to wait, September 15th. Good Luck with getting Tyler that 120" buck. We'll have to sign him up on our team, I think. :-)

Right now work is booming and will be until the middle of October(perfect considering season starts the 16th). So right now I'm working, and trying to get in scouting. But I did just set up a StealthCam today. So I'm really pumped to see what comes by.

Everything is a go for the 16th, and I can't wait to make this the winning team. :D

Tim, I was glad to see the control your son had. Way not too shoot. I'm glad to hear that he is seeing action no matter how the weather has been treating you. Good luck and return home safely. Pat

BTW...I will usually post a hunting report every few days to let everyone know what is going on.

Guys, our season opened yesterday and I can honestly say that I wish it would open later. The heat is oppressive here. Heat index of 92 today. I lose all zeal for hunting in those temps. Maybe it will be a little cooler next week.

Wow! That is warm. The high's here are around 80. But anytime we get some rain, the temps fall to lower 70's until the end of September. Begining of October the temp's range in the 60's, and then by bow season on the middle of October it's nice and cool. But I think the middle of september would be a good time to pattern a buck between feeding and bedding area's. But who know's. ;)

What a dizzly day and way too quiet. Only excitement I had was a forky stalking me on the evening hunt. I had to find a different place to hunt then my stand with the wind. I found a good spot for a natural ground blind and bumped a small forky out of there. Apparently he thought it was a good spot for a nap. He really had no clue what was going on and trotted off. Hour and a half later he came slinking back looking for me. I had shots at 15 yards, 8 yards and he got as close as 6 yards from me before getting bored and walking off. Didn't figure he would help the team out with his 20 some inch rack so I passed. ;):D Wish the big ones would do that.

Tyler had a doe by his stand and was entertained by squirrels and crows.

Hope tomorrow is better.

Tim

Hey guys, I am momentarily back from my trip. My season doesn't open until Oct. 1st. Even then it won't get good until almost the first of November. Although I have a number of stands already up and will put more up this week I am concentrating on elk at the moment.

I'm glad to see that everyone has checked in and we are in such great shape. With all of the desire, dedication, and drive I am reading from my teammates, I am confident we are very real contenders in this contest. Of course the only results I am really concerned with are my own. By that I mean, I am only concerned with pulling my own weight. I know you guys will do your part.

It has been two years since I killed a "book buck" and I haven't seen a huge buck from any of my stands in that time. Of course that is all relative to the area one hunts. When I lived in Michigan I would have given my right arm to kill many of the bucks I let walk by now.

TJF, you are having way to much fun.;) Keep up the good work.

Nice job on the name and logo. "Lung Busters", that is what those mountains and thin air have done to me in the last eight days.

Hi guys, looking for advice to quiet my bow. I posted this in the Technical forum, but would also like to hear any advice my fellow team members could give me.;)

LEACHES, WHISKERS, OR LIMB SAVERS???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got a Mathews FX and want to quiet the bow during a shot. What would be the best and most reliable way of doing so?

I do have a Doinker stabilizer on it for shock dampening.

Thanks

I might have stumbled into some hunting property for FREE in Illinois for next year. I know that doesn't help our contest this year, but what a break that would be for next year. Plus it is only a little over an hour away. Hope it works out. 150 acres and I've seen the trails and woods when fishing the farm pond near the house.

I should know something in about a month.:)
