I'm with fieldmouse in reguards to your cutting not bothering the deer. I've found in the past when I cut trails to get to a stand the deer will travel the trail as soon as they find it. If in the past the deer used the "major run" and haven't been because it was blocked you'll likely see the deer utilizing the run again in pretty short order. If you give it a couple of days (until this weekend) I would think nothing of heading back in for a hunt. I think you've helped yourself out by doing what you did.

Hey guy's, I'm back from 8 days vacation and have seen some deer and turkey's.
Yea ,the hurricane was a bummer but I hunted in it and got soaked. The deer here
are sucking up acorns left and right and don't seem to be interested in the fields
much right now. I have seen several does and yearling's each day I hunted but
have only seen 3 small bucks. Monday morning was fun seeing 10 deer and about
20 turkeys go by my stand on the morning hunt. I hunted this morning the 23rd
and saw 12 deer all does and yearlings and 7 turkeys. I'm back to work now on 3-11
shift and if I get a shot at a doe in the next few morning's I am going to shoot.
Ain't it good to be back in the woods again.
Good hunting to you guys.

well AR,
dont worry too much, hunted today, saw a spike, and a doe. And sweated my cahonehs off!! It was cool in the AM around 60 deg. but then it shot up to 80+ for the afternoon hunt, I actually walked out to my stand, sat down on a stump, dripping with sweat, (mind you I was wearing a cut off t-shirt) and decided "hell with it, I'm going back in" so I got in my truck, and went home, ( and took a shower) lol these hot days kill me!!!

there was a new post in the forum today about them doing away with the rule about putting a tag on your kill for the picture. It asked for opinions from team captains so I replied that we were ok with it. seemed kinda sensless to me anyway. If you guys disagree with my reply please go and address your concerns on that thread, if not I took care of it for us.

The new rule makes sense to me. Tags are for the States to worry about. Either way mine will be because it's the law in Maine. Hopefully I'll connect this weekend while I'm up north. I'm taking my Stealth cam as well to see if I can spy any of the brutes that roam up there.
Drew,
Congrats on the doe. I envy the tenderloins
my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Good luck with a buck.
To everyone who'll be hunting this weekend, Good luck! Hopefully we'll all be posting pics Monday morning.

coulda got us on the board tonite, I had a half rack spike at 20 yrd for 20 mins tonite, I kept thinking "HMMM he'd probably score about um.....5 but you know if I get skunked this year 5 would be better than nothing!!" I have been out 3 times now at 3 different woods, and have seen 2 half rack spikes, maybe somebody is trying to tell me something. lol But seriously it is starting to get cooler here, 50 at nite 70 during the day, and now that Oct is here......my body may be at work, but my head is starting to wander..... pre rut is only 4 weeks away.
