JZarr is officially removed from Team 10...he is now part of Team 20 which is the Huntingnet.com staff team put together by the admin and owner of HuntingNet.com

Your new alternate is dough boy...he is the next in line and follow fairness, he's now added to Team 10.....Big Ten.

I would be honored to take over the position of Team Captain if there are no objections.
Jzarr, Good luck.

Welcome aboard Dough Boy. Let us know where your from and where you'll be shooting.
And helps us with some of the trash talk. We have a very quiet team.

Come On Guys.
We look like a team of Helen Keller impersonators.
This is a hunting contest not a mime tournament.
Save the silence for the woods.
Let's hear some chatter.

Hey team 10....Looks like I'm the new kid on the block!!! A little bit about myself.....I have been bowhunting for 10+ years and hunt in both SW Ohio and SE Indiana. I have harvested several nice bucks, but always looking for that bigger one!!! My bow season starts on 10/1, so I have to wait a little longer than some!!! I shoot a Golden Eagle Evolution bow, with Gold Tip arrows and Muzzy 100's. I look forward to hearing from my fellow team mates as we begin the journey to taking this contest and leaving the others to smell our gut piles!!! It looks as though we have team mates in REAL good hunting regions. Good luck to my team mates. I love the name "The Big Ten"......I am a die hard Michigan fan!!!!!

Thanks HNIJustin.
Welcome dough boy. Another Midwest boy. this is too sweet.

We are in the midst of chosing a new team captain. Vote for me and I promise "No New Taxes" or something like that.

We now have 9 of 10 team members with one member not checking since team inception. I'm sure we will end up with someone off the alternate list.

WELCOME dough boy, glad to have you on the team. as you can see, this isn't the loudest of teams, so with anyluck a new team mate will help get us go'n.

as far as captain goes, dave go for it! ! ! it isn't anything that i should probably be doing, due to lack of experiance and school (although i am captain of the varsity hockey team:D) and thanks HNI for do'n the new logo. dave just a suggestion, but what my dad did with his team was e-mailed the members that haven't checked in; and tell them by a choosen date that if they aren't in yet then we will find a new team member (just a suggestion) but i am glad to see that we are talking more, and i hope to keep it up
welcome again dough boy

Well "Big Ten" you have quite the shooter in Hoyt14. That kid really schooled me tonight. We have a game we have started. He shoots at five different dots then I do. Whoever gets closer to the center 3 or more times gets to shoot first the next round. After 17 rounds I NEVER got to shoot first. He was hitting a 2" dot at 20 yards every time. It is kind of tough because I want to be proud but at the same time I sure would like to be able to win some. Actually I don't think I could be more proud.

Have a safe season and know that you have one very good shooter in hoyt14.

I sent Bowfreak4life an e-mail last weekend letting him know we need him to check in. So far no response. I guess it's up to us and a shooter to be named later.

DavidChesney 09-03-2004 06:53 AM

RE: Official Team "The Big 10 " (10) Thread

Here is the team roster so far. As you can see Bowfreak4life has not checked in yet and time is running short for him.

Vaden10 - Alberta
Bowfreak4life
270 win. - Virginia
Teamster284 - Ohio
Davidchesney - Illinois
Hoyt14 - Wisconsin
Shed33 - Idaho
Lou-Lou - Illinois
dough boy - Ohio
H80hunter - Wisconsin

As you all can see we have an excellent list of hunting areas. We have a few younger members on our team that take this sport very seriously and I feel will give us the stamina factor that will be needed to win this contest. We also have an International advantage with our Field Brother - Vaden10.

I would like everyone on this team to post after each hunting trip. Succesful or not. Tell us as many details of the hunt as possible without giving away your favorite spot.. This way we can all learn from our experiences.

If anyone of us has an opinion or suggestion, post it. No single member will feel left out or of no value. It will take all ten of us to win.

Not only will we have fun but we will show the other teams that we are a force to reckoned with. Intergrity, determination, respect for ourselves and respect for our team mates should be of the utmost priority for us. But don't misunderstand me...We Will Take No Prisoners.

The camaraderie and respect that will built between us over the next few months will stay with us for a lifetime.
I sincerely am proud to be a part of this organization known as "The Big Ten".

we gotta good weekend a head of us. we are hang'n the stands, and setting up a spot along the field for opening weekend (ta fill the doe tag) but this should be a good weekend just be'n up there, we are even getting my cuzin into the whole bow experience. We had him shooting for the first time at 20-30 yards a few weeks ago, and he has been hooked on simply the shooting aspect of it ever since. i know that once he sees what i have in the last few years, he'll dam* near give up the gun like i'm considering (dad's said he's calling it quits unless it's B & C;)) to bad they'll already have my blades through 'em and hang'n on the wall. well anyways gotta get to bed for that work day tomorrow

You should have a great day for hangin' those stands. Make sure your Dad gets the squeaky ones. Is your cousin planning on doing any bowhunting this season? Isn't it incredible how addictive shooting a bow can be? I remember the first time I picked up a bow, set my sights on that little circle down range and then let that arrow fly. I was hooked, but of course I missed by a country mile along with a nasty case string slap. But I was hooked. I began going through catalogs looking at bows, reading about set-ups, heading to range to do nothing more than watch other shooters and trying to learn with my eyes. Now look at where we are. It is an exciting time to be alive.

Have fun today Hoyt14. If you see any big racks, mention my name.

Welcome 870 good to have you along.

DC i totaly agree with you when you said the first time you shot you were hooked, i still remember i had some black plastic bow that i shot with my dad when we shot in the back yard where we now have a deck, and it was just a way that i could be doing something with dad, and actually have fun;) just kidd'n dad. but i was always amazed at how accurit he was and mine barely made it to the target. now we are shooting damn neer 100 shots a night together and he can't come with in a mile of me. As for my cuzin, he is gunna get out this year, because my dad and i have made the whole bow hunting stories sound so addicting. of course his KZ will only be 10-15 yards, it's still just beeing out there. some bad news about this weekend was that we didn't get either of the big boyz on the trail camara again, or see to many deer, but on the good side, there is A LOT of deer sign in the wooks. we even noticed that there were a couple of torn up trees IT'S THAT TIME! ! !

Welcome to The Big Ten Shootem up870. I will PM our logo designer to ask if he would be so kind as to remove Bowfreak4life and add Shootem up870.

Well here is the roster. And it is an impressive line up of shooters. Who could ask for better?

Vanden10 - Alberta
Shootem up870 - Illinois
270 win. - Virginia
Teamster284 - Ohio
Davidchesney - Illinois
Hoyt14 - Wisconsin
Shed33 - Idaho
Lou-Lou - Illinois
dough boy - Ohio
H80hunter - Wisconsin

I have been researching a few online Hunting logs for us to use as a team. The one I thought we were going to use had too many issues as far as personal information. I didn't trust it. So I've decided that we should use Hunting Log.com. If someone else has used any others that have proved useful please let us know. The only criteria I require is it be free to all team members.

I've set up a team account for us. The "Hunt Club" name is The Big Ten and each of our user names are now listed in the "Call Information" drop down field.

Disregard the previous PM I sent each of you asking for e-mail address, birth date, etc. I didn't feel comfortable giving any of our information to them.

I will be sending out a new PM to each of you providing you with the Username & Password to access our hunting log account. No personal information from you will be needed. It seems fairly straight forward to use and has several other resources for information, scoring, weather forecast and bulletin boards. Play around with it and let me know if you think it will be of any use to us.

The season is so close I can smell it. And it smells like Victory!

DavidChesney 09-07-2004 04:28 PM

RE: Official Team "The Big 10 " (10) Thread

Hi dough boy. Did you log in using the username & password I PM'd to you? If so then it's all set waiting for "Add Log Entry" info. No one has been out yet in order to add a log entry so there is really nothing to view or search for yet. To the right of the "Hunt Club" button is a drop down window which lists "The Big Ten". Pick this and then your name to add log info. Your name can be found by dropping down the window (1, 2 or 3) to the right of the "Call Information" button. It is waiting for you to go out in the field and then return with info to log. Hope this helps. It's pretty much all new to me as well so we'll know more about how it works as we all get in and enter in log info for our individual hunts....I hope.

We all owe a big Thank You to HNIJustin of team 20 for designing our logo for us.

Anyone else who has questions or even answers on how the HuntingLog website works, please speak up. I could use some insight to it as well.

Has anyone else gone out and hung stands, done any scouting, tuned their broadheads, changed their set-up or anything related as of late? We'd love to hear about it. Post up with what's been going on.

I went to the range on Monday. Didn't have time to go on my usuall Saturday morning. I was grouping at 2/20 & 4/40 with Muzzy 100's. I think I should be set. But I'm turning up the heat on practicing starting this week. Shooting every Wednesday night, Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning and then every chance I get after the opener. I'm ordering a new Range Finder this weekend The Bushnell Yardage Pro seems to fit my budget. And I'm ordering the "Deer Sleigh" so I can save my back when I stick that monster this fall.

As a side note; The Illinois Resident either sex, over the counter tags are finally available.

Good luck guys,
-David

well i went to get a bottom nock put on my bow. guy didnt leave enough room for the nock so i had to adjust it myself. i ended up getting it down far enough but also screwed up my kisser and peep alignment. well i think i got it back to where it was before. i also adjusted the sights so they where more in the middle of the pin guard so i am still trying to get them fully sighted in again. i have picked up a lore stabilizer about a week ago and got a wb2 last month. im ready for the hunting season to start. i am going to get a facemask, limbsavers, sims cable slide, kwikee quiver, and a b/h target before the season starts. just waiting to get paid.

well thats all i got for now.

Shootem up870, just copy and paste this into your signature

Code:

Make sure you check the "Add Signature" box at the top of the thread you post.

HNIJustin put it together for us when he was captain of this team. He was then put on Team 20 (HuntingNet Staff Members)about a week ago. He has been nice enough to update as members were added.

I took a look at your website. Nice pics. Are those topo maps of your hunting area for this year? I assume that creek plays nicely into the seasons plans. Keep up with the practicing. The seasons almost here.

In case anyone hasn't seen, it's just been announced on the team 20 (HuntingNet Staff Members) that ToddGraf has just upped the anty by stating that there will be a prize for the winning team. As if bragging rights aren't enough..A prize to winning team. No idea what it is yet, but The Big Ten aims to find out.

Ever get the feeling that this contest has grown to enormous proportions. Bigger than anyone imagined.

I hope it's sparkly:)

WE GOT IT but. . . . . .once there is a prize thats when there is gunna be cheating and fighting, even though it isn't a big deal, there will always be that little voice in the back of someones head, so all i ask is that The Big Ten keeps everything fair alright guys. i really don't think we'll have a problem with it on this team, but now that thats a factor ya gotta watch out. i donno what else to say other then the fact that 11 dayz is WAY to long. the bug has really getting to me lately, and only a great day out in the woods is gunna curre it.

I can't stand cheaters!!!! Not only does it effect you, but in this case it will effect others. It seems as though our team will not have a problem. As far as scouting, shooting,etc.. I have shot my bow a few times, and I am hitting exactly were I want to be out to 30+ yards. My muzzy's are awesome!!! I will probably go scouting this weekend just to see what is going on over where I hunt. I have hunted that particular property for 9 years so I have a good idea where the deer move. I will have to scout the other property I hunt a bit more, but hey that's why we love this sport right??!! GO BIG TEN

david yes that is the property i will be hunting this year. it actually extends to the east of the red line. i added about 25 more acres there:D i am also working on adding about 200-300 acres to the south and southwestern area of the map.

i have a ladder stand about 20 yards off the creek. right where they come up from getting a drink:Dshould be good

lets go team 10!!

Hey it looks like some other teams are picking our team to do well!!! I have no doubt in mind that we can be right there when it counts!!!! We all have nice areas to hunt, but we are going to have to go that extra mile to be successful. I plan on being in the woods every free moment I have (that tends to make the Mrs. REAL happy!!!). But she knows this time of year is mine. Let's see what happens!!!!

GO BIG TEN!!!
