Default Shoot thru screens

Has anyone had to shoot through the screens in an Ameristep blind before? I have a pop up I will be shooting from this year. Any advice?

BigBirddVa has done a bunch of tests on that. As I recall, my bhead of choice, Slick tricks did ok to 30 yds. Try a search here or on xbow forum on AT.

I've never tried it but I can tell you about my goofy son-in-law's experiences. He has shot a crossbow bolt through one twice. One missed the deer completely and the other hit but was a very bad hit. We found the deer after about three hours of tracking in 78 degree weather and it was "gut shot". I can't tell you if it was the screen or just my son-in-law's inability to shoot a crossbow. I would think the screen could act on a bolt / arrow just as if you hit twig or something but I've never tested it.

Also, my goofy son-in-lawhasshot a muzzleloader through the screen from inside the blind. He got the deer but dang near choked to death on all the powder smoke and couldn't hear for about three days, too.

Good luck,

GZ

I tried a few thru the mesh and the slick trick 100gr. worked fine at 25 yds. I tried some mechanicals and to my surprise some high dollar heads were outdone by NAP Shockwaves, thats all I am going to use this season.

Shot some MUZZYS thru my ameristep screen. Hit the dot on the target. Only shot at 20 yards as I keep my huntingshots in that range.
