Default Horton does it's job very well!!

Well I got one! I was sitting on the edge of a cornfield by a creek and 2 does walked out right in front of me. I took the biggest one. They were probably 18 yards or so. Hit it with a double lung shot and complete passthrough with a Spitfire mechanical and carbon bolt. The Horton HD175 smashed it. Jello for lungs. I couldn't find the arrow. It ran about 5 yards and fell over. The other deer kinda jumped on it cause it didn't know what was going on. Then it got up and ran again into the corn. I found her DEAD about 50 yards or less away. My brother-in-law and another guy who had a small buck at the check station said it was about 175lbs after field dressing. We had a heck of a time dragging her back over a quarter mile by hand. I'm going to try to take another smaller doe later next week. Save my buck for gun or muzzloader season. IT FEELS GREAT!
I'm surprised they walked right by me just sitting there along the field. I had a DR appointment and didn't have time to get my new blind out today. Good luck to you all too!!! Hope everyone gets theirs.

chris

Thats a fine looking Doe! Congrats on your hunt!! Long drags are not fun at all!! I am waiting on the snow sleds for kids to hit the shelfs. I hear they make dragging real nice, But I may get a deer before they put them on the shelf.

Great job....and with the exact same setup that I'm using....down to the spitfires. They make nice holes don't they?

My season starts in the morning and I hope to follow your example.

Thanks, I just finshed cutting everything up. First time doing it myself. It went pretty good. I'm going to also make a bunch of jerky, and grind some burger this weekend. Maybe try some sausages on this one too. Good luck to all out there!
Oh, and yes! The Spitfires do make a nice hole. I was pretty impressed with them.
