Your Hunt Today! Lets Hear it! Season II

I haven't seen anything but have heard a few off in the distance. I also haven't posted to this thread for awhile. There starting to really pick the corn and beans up here so maybe that'll get 'em moving more. Also seeing some below freezing temps at night! We've had pretty heavy frost in places the last few nights now. I went out to my old spot and found a bunch of fresh tracks! A big buck for sure!! Man he sank about 2-3" into the dirt. (soft) there where also some doe prints following him around. I may give it a shot out there tonite. I haven't been going in the mornings. My back has really been a hurtin' and movin' that early is difficult. Good Luck everyone!

Went out this morning, got out kinda late. But soon after I showed up the RR came in and started making alot of noise. I had my stand set up within fifty yards of track and there where two guys inspecting track and then decide to start to remove a twenty foot section track. Sat and watched them for a little and then left. Be back out tonight.

Well it's black powder season this morning in NC so I was there with my ole smokepole with baited breath. I saw nothing early so I picked up my deer & deer hunting magizine and started reading some good hunting stories. I keep all the new issues unread untill gun season so I have something new to read. LOL. Anyway, at 8:15 AM, after looking up from a paragraph I just read, out of my right side window, I saw what to me is better than an 8 point buck walking towards the front cut field. I got my pole out the window and took off the safety, whistled twice and it stopped broadside. He then had a very bad day cause I lit him up! I didn't want it torn up too badly so I aimed for the lungs and that's where it got him. I have already taken to to my taxidermist for a full body mount. You guessed it, it's a mature male coyote. It's the very first one I've ever seen in this area. Didn't even know there was any around here. But I'm sure glad he WAS! I haven't gotten a deer yet this season but I've got Monday and Tuesday of this week and Monday ond Tuesday of next week to connect hopely. There is so many rubs and scrapes this year I can't count them. Way more activity this year than past years here. It's just a matter of time when old daddy long legs shows up looking for miss right. Good luck to all of you.

Went out this AM even with the wind howling and saw a crippled ( I mean physically disabled ) fork horn I have seen more than once. Walks like he either has a broken back hip or one leg is shorter than the other and he looks a little thin.
Almost dusted him at 20 yards but did not want to use up my last buck tag. Still wondering if I should have shot him.
What do you guys think????
Buddy.. you were beating them up last year so things shouldbe getting better for you. Still a couple/few weeks until the rut for you???

BuddyBo,
Congrats on your coyote kill. TAKE EVERY ONE OUT YOU CAN !!!!! They will ruin a great hunting area. We have them bad down here in Louisiana, and we take all we can, don't know what we would do if we didn't. I got some pictures a few years ago with spotting fawns in their mouths, running off in front of the camera. They will wipe out the rabbit population, and kill all young deer they run across. They will also pack-up and kill bigger deer.
So you can bet if there is one, there is many, many more where that one come from.....
Enjoy your hunts, shoot straight, stay safe !!!!!!

Went out before sunrise got in my ground blind and sat and listend,it was 32 deg and still,I heard some movement to the west of me on the ridge,it looked like 2 deer(was)walking abou 40 yards away, they stayed on the ridge and off into the awkeing morrning. Then as the woods became lighter(sunrise)all you could hear were the Rifles going off all around(open gun season till the 11th),about 9:00 I walked the woods and found 1 more new scrape and 3 fresh piles of deer poop so I think he is going thru in the evening so thats what I will do tomorrow...a evening hunt, but with all the guns going off my little piece of hunting heaven is going to start getting more deer in it.Thank you gun hunters........
P.S.
shouldr is starting to feel good, best its been in over a year........

Did you make two? Looks like one good one at least showed up.
Went out tonight. Sat in new stand since dad was out of town. As I was walking by the tall reed grass I could hear two bucks going at it! My heart was pumping big time. I have to walk right by this stuff and they had to be in there within thirty yards of me. I could hear them grunting and the horns clanking together. Was not sure what to do so I just hurried up and went to stand and waited, only seen a doe come out. But as I walked by I could hear stuff moving in the reeds. The doe, which looked kinda small came out right at sunset, I think she was within thirty yards of stand when I got down well into the dark, but not sure if I was just seeing things or not. When I left I never heard her snort or run off. Will go out next on Wednesday.
