I only did it once!! Kept the fingernail and got a little smarter...
I was just so used to shooting rifles and have a tendency to stick my thumb up a bit when Iwrap my hand around the stock.I don't even put my thumb up anymore when I'm shooting long guns. It sure gets your attention and made me feel like a moron. I became a compleat moron the following week when I dry fired it. DUH....

I never did that, but I came so close that I almost PI_ _ ed my pants. I did do somthing that wasvery painfull afterwards. I was hunting in Montana with a friend, andI wanted to try an overdraw. I sat up my bow got everything working great, and went out to the hunting area that day. I saw a takeable 12 point, drew back my bow with my muzzy broadhead, and let it fly. I am an open handed shooter with a wrist strap and my fore finger got inline with the business end of the muzzy, Tarzan would have hurt himself getting out of the woods when he heard my scream. I took 17 stitches to close that one up. I got the deer, and my friend got another item for his yard sale.

How about twice in one day?! I hit my thumb, not too bad, by laying my hand alongside the bow while it was rested on m y deck railing. After hopping around a while, I decided to "get back on the bronc" by shooting it again. Only this time it cocked partially because I wasn't pulling as hard as ususal, the auto safety wouldn't release when I tried to shoot. On this bow one has to recock it with a rope puller. I removed the bolt, only I forgot to put it back on SAFE. The bow went off while I was recocking it. One of the puller handles smashed into my index finger; the nail is in the process of coming off. This, like the other time I got hit by a string, was casued by a loose nut....the one behind the bow.
