The Max distance for a hunter who understands deer jumping the string depends on two things one is where the deer is looking I had a big doe this year I took at 22 yds I thought she was so close it did not make any differance I aimed just over her heart and she ducked and the arrow brokeher spine[I was shooting off a rest]. For a deer thats looking the other way I can normally shoot to 30yds and hit where I aim with out a problemsince my X-bow chrony's at 312 fps I figure that 35 yds is max if they are looking the other way as a deers reaction time is kinda fast. Well now looks like we have come full circle on this playing field! I'll throw in my nickle just so i say a few words. To each person there is limit to how fer they will shoot at game! Deers are very jumpy and uptight, so my self imposed limit is 35 yds. if all is in my favor! Not 50 not 45 and not 40 as my CB is too slow, but (35) Thirty five yards and thats a fer piece out there thru all that brush trees and limbs![:-]

Buck Hunter 14 i checked and your 14 years old by what it says in profile. So i am assuming you are a greenhorn! That tends to explain alot of the ?'s you have been asking. Do you get to hunt? If so what do you hunt and what do you use when hunting? Rifle- shotgun- Bow-CB?

Definitely not "Maybe 50." A 50 yard shot is a "Hail Mary" shot. Animals deserve to be cleanly and quickly killed, not crawl offto die a lingering death from a bad shot. iroutinely pass up 30to 40 yard shots because conditions are not perfect.

Well congrats on the deer from last year buckhunter14. You have to bear with the frustration that we have sometimes. Just when you make a post try and give some follow up when you ask a question. Alot of guys get upset when a question is asked and alot of thought goes into a response and no follow up to let us know ifwe helped or not. Once again, congrats!
