The Max distance for a hunter who understands deer jumping the string depends on two things one is where the deer is looking I had a big doe this year I took at 22 yds I thought she was so close it did not make any differance I aimed just over her heart and she ducked and the arrow brokeher spine[I was shooting off a rest]. For a deer thats looking the other way I can normally shoot to 30yds and hit where I aim with out a problemsince my X-bow chrony's at 312 fps I figure that 35 yds is max if they are looking the other way as a deers reaction time is kinda fast.
