depends on what you wanta cook. we use our for the venison neck,we put it in the crock with a couple carrots,a big onion,pepper corns,salt,garlic powder. cook over night till it falls off the bones,drain,chop finley,place into iron skillett with BBQ sauce and eat on buns for BBQ sandwich.can't beat it.
also I take the boney parts of a wild gobbler,with the onions and carrots.take the meat and clean all the bones out and use the meat for dressing,use the juice to cook some rice and mix in baking dish and bake till you get the dryness you like you dressing at.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

Wild turkey legs are delicious in the crock pot. Just put them in there with about a cup of wine or water. Then season the legs and cover them with onions and garlic. Cook on low for about 10 hours...and enjoy.
