I ended up buying a Cookshack smokette from Cabela's. I found one that was brand new in the bargain cave for a great price.Stainless steel model originally$479,for $339. I chose the cookshack because I don't have to 'tend' it all the time. I put the meat in, place the wood (few ounces), and let it rip. Simple, easy, and delicious. I have smoked 6 pork shoulders, 1 brisket, 4 beef chuck rolls, 3 chickens, and 9 racks of pork ribs. This smoker is INCREDIBLE. I cannot go to any BBQ joints anymore, mine tastes better...Hope this helps.

I dont own one but my good friend has one. I freaken love it. We have only smoked precut meat we have not made our own sausage and smoked it. Only problem we have ran into is smoking in exstream cold or high wind. I think that it is under powered and needs about 10,000 more BTU's for that exstream cold but this is the taller one of the 2 i think it is 48in the smaller one is perfect and if i buy one i will get the shorter one. As soon as i get a deer i think i will make my own sausage and smoke it at his house.

I got one from Gander mountain It's the Smokey Mountain model from the great outdoors. Propane powered, 2'x4'x16" I just love it.I would highly recommend it. I believe Cabela's sells a Stainless version that is a little smaller, 16"x16"x4'
