Who is Honest? How many missed shots?

RE: Who is Honest? How many missed shots?
I've got to tell a story on my buddy. He doesn't post here so I am sure he wont mind (or at least wont know)
Late one season we had the deer pegged. Around 5ish they would come out into a field in the same spot, right before dark they would exit in another spot across the field, maybe 100yds across. We set up, my budddy at the entry trail, myself at the point of exit. Well, sure enough, around 4:30 the first deer came out. Three does. It looked like they were right on top of him as he drew back. The arrow missed high and the deer didn't move far, allowing another shot. He missed again, high. The deer ran past me in a blur...
Well, about 20 minutes later, four more does came out. Again, same situation, only this time he could only get off one shot (he only carried 3 arrows at the time, now he carries a quiver full). The deer spooked and ran back in a different direction.
So he gets down, picks up his three arrows, and climbs back into his stand. 30 minutes later I saw him shoot again, the deer were in the woods but came out after he shot. He got off another shot, missing high. Again the deer ran past me in a blur. Right at dark, a single doe came out, again he missed high. He climbed down out of his stand, gathered his three arrows, and walked off to the truck. I hunted til dark and didn't see another deer......
So, to recap, six shots in about 2 hours, six misses....
Sorry Dave, I had to tell it
Come to find out, his sight pin had slide down about 1/2 inch without him noticing. He now has them marked where they should be.

Missing is part of the bowhunting experience. If archery hunting wasn't so challenging, we would probably all be home watching TV.
Try to get a copy of "The Witchery of Archery" by Maurice Thompson. He tells a story in there about shooting a whole quiver full of arrows at a rabbit that just sat there and kept eating as the arrows fell all around. His point is that missing with those arrows was more fun than hitting the rabbit with a 12 ga.
