Your absolutely correct Silent ,I just wanted to let it be known that I'm Canadian and not all of are bad .I just got the midnight shift and i work for an American who's opinion of Canadian's is about the same as BobD .Some of the rule's this guy has are just about as dumb as the rule about thre broadheads.Sorry about the whining just wanted to get a point across that this rule was most likely self imposed and not a canadian rule that I know of.

Well said Nubo.
Where was it in Canada you were planning to hunt these bears?
Personally I have never heard of a law stating that 125 grain heads were required for bear but may be different in certain Provinces or townships.
I am just taking a guess here. You have heard of guys going after grizleys in B.C or Alaska and the guides RECCOMEND you to bring nothing smaller then say a 338 win mag or moose hunting with a minimum of say a 30-06.You understand what I,m saying.MAYBE you misunderstood what he said and that he RECCOMENDS 125 grain heads.
BobD----do you really feel that way,did you really mean what you said? You really hurt my feelings my friend.[&o]
If its the law then lets just live with it bob and get on with it,not insults.

the providence im huntign is ontario, and his reasoning is hah get this that 100gr broadheads are much too light the just explode on impact, trun to powder, they are menat for turkey and texas size deer but not for big game of the north. i was like wooooo

Have you ever watched Ted Nugents spirt of the wild ? he shoots around 50-55 pounds of draw weight , and I have seen him kill zebra and moose , with 100 grain magnus heads .

Bows must, at a draw length of 27.6 inches or less, have a draw weight of at least 48.5lbs. Arrows must be at least 23.6 inches long and have at a minimum a .87 inch wide arrow head with at least two cutting edges that are sharp unserrated, barbless. straight and made of steel.
That is taken directly out of the latest Ontario hunter regulations. The only difference for deer is that the draw weight minimum is 39.7 lbs. The numbers seem odd because everything is originally in metric up here so they don't convert exactly.
It sounds like this outfitter does not understand archery and it also looks like he has had some bad experiences in the past. In fairness, a black bear in most cases is as easy to kill as a deer. BUT, every now and then a 450 pounder walks in and if you wound that bear, tracking and dispatching it is NOTHING LIKE A DEER!!!! I have taken several bears and have observed a mother bear literally kick the snot out of a larger boar ( which I had to kill as he was climbing my tree!) and believe me I have a healthy respect for the power of a bear. Sure they normally run from you, but good luck if they don't. You can not out climb or out run a bear. Anyway, if you can't get your mind around this outfitters personal theories just use another. There are hundreds of good ones in Ontario.

According to the American-Canadian exchange rate a 100 grain tip in the US is equivilent to a 125 grain in Canada.

terrym, i've never hunted a bear, but was told by those who have, and i'm thinking of going with at some point, that it was actually easier to penetrate than a white tail. is that true? i agree about shot placement. it sounds like the outfitter has taken some pretty bad archer's hunting, like they have been hitting rocks intead of the bear they were shooting at.

If you have a problem with you shouldn't have signed on the dotted line [&:]. If it wasn't disclosed untill after signing/deposit and you don't agree with it you should be entitled to a refund but your going to have to prove it and the whole thing will be an agravating and frustrating thing to do. I think you stated somewhere above he is new to takeing bowhunting clients? That right there would have turned me away
. Good luck on your hunt.
